About Nutrition

Food, Glorious Food!

Diet (that 4 letter word, that can be linked to so many feelings of deprivation and frustration) actually means the foods we eat frequently and these make up how our body is formed. We are what we eat. What's even more true, is that, we are what we absorb.

Our digestive tract is like a long tube, and absorption is when the food is broken down by enzymes created by different organs, like the stomach, small intestine and pancreas. We need a good supply of digestive enzymes to really have good absorption of the protein, starches, fats, vitamins, minerals and the other tiny little nutrients that create good muscle tone, skin, clear thinking, ease of movement etc.

When we are stressed or when our digestive tract finds it really difficult to function well so our body can become deficient in nutrients and therefore can struggle to work well.

For example, protein is hugely important in forming and repairing healthy muscle, so if you are unable to fully digest the proteins in your daily food, you could be more prone to physical injury.

Another example could be Vitamin C, hugely important to our immunity and also important in ensuring iron is absorbed into the body so it can be utilised. If you don’t have enough Vitamin C then you may not be utilising your iron and could end up fatigued. These are just two examples from thousands of ways food and supplements help our body function. Magnesium itself has about 500 functions and co-functions in the body so this gives an indication of how important a broad spectrum diet is for good health of the body, mind, energy & spirit.

During a Session

There are a couple of ways a nutrition session can be held. It can be done as a stand alone session, where I go through your history and then we develop a treatment plan based on your information with whatever focus is your priority in your health.

Incorporating Kinesiology

I also love using Kinesiology during a nutrition session as it can prove hugely useful. Here’s why?

  • Food Intolerances

  • Food Enhancing

  • Supplement Checking

  • ICV (Ileo-Cecal Valve) Correction

  • Balancing the meridians related to digestion: Stomach, Pancreas, Liver, Gall Bladder, Small & Large Intestine.

Incorporating Kinesiology alongside the nutrition gives a more layered and dynamic approach. However, if Kinesiology is not for you, then I will be delighted to help you with nutrition as the forefront modality.
